Ready, set…go?!?

You are not alone. So, so many of us are in the exact same position. Even with our families and friends sharing our anxieties we can feel quite alone and frustrated by this seesaw of a ride we have been on for minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and for some of us years. We are angry, frustrated and scared about our situations and some of the decisions we have made getting to this point. One contributor really said the truth when he wrote, “it is out of our control now”.

So let us be at peace with the world, and focus on just those areas that we do have control over. Things like: identifying and talking to the right professional people, having all of our documents in order, selecting our inner circle wisely, going back through some of the supurb information that has been shared with us over the years, having our plans spelled out, etc., etc.

There are many things that we can be doing to rehearse for the moments of truth. The more we practice those things that we do have control over, the more we’ll lower our stress and anxiety as well as keep our minds and bodies strong. All of the rest will play itself out and unfold as it ought.

Free Weekly Retirement Teleconference coming!

Autumn Activities

Fall is a good time of year to start planning for the coming year and the planting of retirement transitional plans you look to accomplish in the Spring. The Lighthouse Coaching Center will assist individuals, couples and those about to retire in Designing Their Personal Choices by offering a series of workshops, Seminars and Coaching sessions to start the planning process.

We will be introducing you to the 15 factors for designing a successful transition or retirement. Come on, call me.

What are we going to do after the Blessings comes home? We all have been asking that question for months and many of us for years now. Many of us have been planning wisely and many of us not so wisely. I know with the forces weighing us down, it can be difficult to make many of the decisions necessary, but there are paths that we can take that will get us to the goals and plans that we want to fulfill our lives and the lives of those we love.

I played with many of the nouveau riche fantasies but all along I knew that they were not the path that I was to follow. With the support of my coaching training and the direction of KTFM, I am now comfortable with my directions. And you? Are you prepared?

Retirement Options

I mentioned to you in a previous post that I am a Certified Retirement Coach, and I wanted to spend this week talking about what that means in relationship to one’s transition. My ten week course, which was followed by the retirement certification exam qualified me for the Certified Retirement Coach designation, and is approved by the International Coach Federation (ICF). The Coach’s training emphasis is on the assessment, interpretation and planning using the Retirement Success Profile (RSP). This instrument measures individuals on 15 retirement success factors.

Upon completing the on-line assessment, a 20+ page personalized interpretive report gets generated that explains how to understand what your individualized results mean. Within all 15 success factors, one has the opportunity to compare their present behavior to their expectations. Issues such as attitudes, health, financial security, leisure, work, career changing and more get explored with charts and graphs to help explain and articulate your situation. One can interpret their own results and read Dr. Johnson’s Book, The New Retirement, Discovering Your Dream. (Both the assessment and the book are offered as our basic package) However, I recommend one holds at a minimum, one coaching session along with the basic package. This allows you to get feedback on your results, give you a knowledgeable unbias explanation of some of the factors, and most importantly, is being able to use your coach to develop your mission statement and a retirement options plan. Hello and Welcome! I’m Guy Boone, Coach for the Lighthouse Coaching Center. I am officially opening my Blog today for you to be able to access the Center, which will serve as a conduit to a great deal of the resources needed for our passage. We Boomers are starting to get overwhelmed with a plethora of “information” the media and opportunist are trying to lure us with at this critical transitional time in our lives.
Well Boomers, I hope to assist in navigating through all of this by being that resource center! The Lighthouse Coaching Center will serve and assist very specific groups. First, are the Boomers. If you are one, you know it, and retirement should be a significant part of your life planning at this time. (In the days to come, we will explore the many non-financial aspects of retirement.) Second, are couples going into retirement that need or desire to develop their relationship skills. And finally, any of us that could benefit from the assistance of a Life Coach.
I am truly excited about the launching of my blog and need your assistance to make it a beacon for transition. Blog me, share me, challenge me, to grow a Center worthy of your active participation!
